BHV Marais is a two styles all caps bespoke font designed for the Parisian department store Le BHV Marais. Created in a style closer to the art deco style, the alphabet is mostly inspired by the vernacular Parisian lettering as find in the middle of the twentieth century.
The new typeface was created for Publicis Royalties for the new visual identity they’ve designed. The main idea was to visually regulate the alignment of the main diagonals of the alphabet (M, V, 7…) according to the large slash identity placed between words and BHV Marais on the logotype. Indeed, the concept of slash created by Publicis Royalties is used regularly in the details and declined the main trade mark. In addition to the diagonal endings curves letters follow this principle and reinforce identity.
